Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli has described his team’s crucial World Cup match against Nigeria as vital.

The two-time tournament winners need to beat Nigeria in their final Group D match in St. Petersburg
on Tuesday to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.

“Tomorrow’s match will be vital [for Argentina]. Both teams can advance [to the knockout stage]. They
will try to do everything to advance. The defeat to Croatia was painful. But a few days have passed by
and I have taken responsibility for that loss. From the very next day I have started to think about a
victory over Nigeria. I am concentrated only on the next game,” Sampaoli said at the match conference.

Argentina, who were runners-up at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil are on the brink of missing out on the knockout stage in Russia after picking up only one point in their two Group D games.
