Who takes the upper hand in Chelsea/Liverpool showdown?

After a surprise lone goal defeat at the Stamford Bridge by Valencia in the Champions league, Chelsea return to action today against Liverpool in the Premier league.

For die-hard premier league fans the Blues versus the Reds fixture is no doubt the real thing especially with Liverpool currently enjoying back to back victories in the premier league so far.

The Reds lost 2-0 away to Napoli in the Champions league. It may be safe to say both teams suffered the same fate in midweek Champions league.

But back to the premier league Nigeria born England junior international Tammy Abraham was on fire in Chelsea’s 5-2 defeat of Wolverhamton Wanderers in their last premier league match grabbing a hat-trick.

The 21 year old who has become subject of discuss among analysts especially regarding whether he will eventually settle for Nigeria or England is at the moment more concerned with banging more goals for Chelsea this season.

Can he post another five star performance against Liverpool today? Perhaps only time will tell. No doubt it will not be a walk in the park hosting Liverpool with equally in-form duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane who see goal scoring as hallmark of any successful outing.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah

Their recent disagreement over passing or not passing the ball has been put behind no matter how fans and media want to keep it on the front burner.

Faced with an opponent their only focus is how to score and win.  With a hard fighting Chelsea with a   crop of young players introduced under Frank Lampard and a ready to fly Liverpool, it certainly promises to be celebration of fireworks today at the Stamford Bridge.

Outside the battle of the Bridge, Arsenal will host Aston Villa. West Ham host Manchester United who are eager to return properly return to winning ways while Crystal Palace host Wolverhamton Wanderers. Did I hear you say loaded Sunday?
