WNBA star, “Chiney” Ogwumike storms Nigeria

WNBA star and Nigerian-American basketball star, Chinenye “Chiney” Ogwumike has traced passion and purpose as one of the main ingredients for her success as a professional basketball player.

The Los Angeles Sparks player who is one of the fastest rising basketball analysts in the world was a guest to Avi-Cenna International School in Ikeja where she paid them a courtesy visit as part of her give backinitiative.

While addressing the students, Chiney said that as young and aspiring sportsmen and women, there is more to basketball than having the regular skills set.

The ESPN analyst related her experience as a kid who grew up in Houston and emphasized on the need for kids to be focused, in a society where they can easily get distracted.

On Tuesday, “Chiney” Ogwumike will unveil the renovated basketball court at Queens College, Yaba after which she will distribute basketball kits to students who are aspiring to play basketball.

Ogwumike who holds the record for the most rebounds in the history of Stanford Women’s Basketball and the Pac-12 Conference will also meet with young female professional basketball players at the Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium Complex.

The current WNBA Players Association Vice President will round off her visit on Wednesday after meeting over 300 kids at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium
