You’re going too far, Ebewele blasts Sports Minister

...Says he has no right to set up committee on Doha's poor outing

Former board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Brown Ebewele, popularly called jujuman, has hammered Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, for setting up a committee to investigate the nation’s poor outing at the last world athletics championship in Doha.

According to Ebewele, the minister would have ordered the AFN board to probe the poor outing, instead of setting it up by himself.
Speaking on a local radio in Lagos, he said the minister was interfering directly in the affairs of the national associations.

“The Sports Minister has no right to set-up the committee. He would have informed the board to do the needful and probe the Doha poor show. The board should know better than any other stakeholders,”he said.
The Sports Minister on Monday received the report of the Ministerial Advisory committee led by Professor Ken Anugweje Dr Umar Bindir, Rotimi Obajimi, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Dare Esan, Mary Onyali, Falilat Ogunkoya and Maria Wophil on the Doha championship.

The Minister would have to study the report and implement the resolutions of the committee, as recommended in the report.

The committee was given a 7-day ultimatum to deliver their report and the members worked very hard to submit their findings on Monday
