2018 EPL Team of the Year: Ndidi, Moses out

Nigeria’s Victor Moses could not make the 2018 Premier League Team of the Year, despite shortlisted for the Chelsea Player of the Year.

Another Nigerian omitted on the list which was announced on Tuesday was  Leicester player, Wilfred Ndidi whose performance this season has attracted the attention of Arsenal and Liverpool.

They were joined by compatriots and the duo of Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho also of Leicester, whose contributions were not enough to warrant their inclusion. Ndidi, Moses, Iwobi and Iheanacho have played 31, 24, 21 and 16 games respectively this season.

As expected, league champions, Manchester City dominates the list with five players namely Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

Striker Sergio Aguero who is making the team for the first time is the fifth player.

Fourth-placed Tottenham were the other team to also boast more than one player in Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and striker Harry Kane.

United’s only player picked was goalkeeper David de Gea, while Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso was the only player from former champions Chelsea.

Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah who has scored 30 goals so far leads the attack.
