2019 AFCON: Eaglets loss to Guinea an eye opener for Eagles- Rohr

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has voiced out that Guinea won’t be an easy nut to crack in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt in June.

The Franco- German football tactician confessed to SportingLife.ng shortly after the Golden Eaglets lost 10-9 via penalty to Guinea in Wednesday’s semi-final match of the ongoing U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania.

Rohr considered Guinea a major threat to Eagles ambition in Egypt 2019 AFCON if the Guineans are underrated. But he promised to prepare the Eagles well before the AFCON to get the positive result expected from the Eagles.

“We will meet this country also in a difficult game in AFCON. So Guinea will always pose a big threat. “We know that Guinea did a great work in academies and clubs in the last years. The Eagles gaffer however threw his weight behind the resurgence of Eaglets before the U17 World Cup.

“The most important is the qualification for the World Cup. For the World Cup I am optimistic. The staff will have the time to prepare the team very well”, he assured.
