Eagles to get $2.8m World Cup bonus in Nigeria

The Nigeria Football federation President Amaju Melvin Pinnick has revealed that the $2.8m dollars meant for the Super Eagles participation at the World Cup will be credited into the federation’s account next week.

The Nigeria Football federation President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick has revealed that the $2.8m dollars meant for the Super Eagles participation at the World Cup will be credited into the federation’s account next week.

The money which represents the 30% of the $9.5m that FIFA will pay to Nigeria for qualifying for this year’s FIFA 2018 World cup in Russia.

The players share was agreed in London during Nigeria’s friendly against Serbia last month.

Pinnick disclosed to SportingLife.ng that the players accounts will be credited before the friendly match against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Port- harcourt, Rivers State on March 28.

Pinnick said team captain Mikel Obi has been informed and he is excited with the development.

” I want the players to have the best of preparations. I want them to give their best in Russia because I know they are young and willing to give their all. My target is to win the World Cup and that is the message I have been preaching to them. They will not lack anything and what we are giving them is the best”. Pinnick said

37 players who participated in the qualifying rounds, including former Eagles’ Coach Sunday Oliseh, and players like Obafemi Martins, Carl Ikeme and Paul Onobi, amongst others are expected to share out of the money.
