Nigeria international, Oghenekaro Etebo failed to save Spanish side, Las Palmas’s from going down in the Spanish top flight,  following their 4-0 defeat to Deportivo Alaves on Sunday evening.

A brace from Alaves Mohammed Munir followed by strikes from Alvaro Medran and Ruben Sobrino sent Las Palmas who were playing at home to relegation.

Etebo who joined the Canary outfit in January on loan from Portuguese side CD Feirense, could now be playing in the second division next season.

Etebo is not the only Nigerian in the Spanish side that also parades Imoh Ezekiel and Emmanuel Emenike.

He was named in the starting XI along with Ezekiel who was replaced in the 71st minute with Hernan Toledo. Emenike who is yet to kick a ball for the club since joining was left out.

Las Palamas managed to win five of their 34 matches this season.

This is the first time they would be dropping down to the Spanish Segunda Liga from the topflight since the 2014- 2015 campaign when they gained promotion.

They join the duo of Isaac Success and Brown Ideye who also failed to propel Spanish club, Malaga to safety.
