Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has retained the Leicester City’s Young Player of the Season award for the second consecutive year decided at the club’s end of season awards on Tuesday evening.

The award was decided online by City supporters over the previous weeks.  The Nigerian saw off England U21 internationals Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray to win.

His award is in recognition of his industrious displays at the heart of City’s midfield, with the 21-yer old leading the way for the Foxes in passes and touches.

He also currently tops both the Club’s and the Premier League’s overall tackling charts, making a brilliant 138 interventions to date.

The Lagos-born middleman signed for Leicester City from Belgian outfit KRC Genk in January 2017 and has since established himself as a crucial member of the Foxes squad, playing 61 matches in all competitions. He has also been directly involved in nine goals.

He was also nominated for the 2017/18 Players’ Player of the Season sponsored by Lanes Jewellers but lost out to defender Harry Maguire.

Another Nigeria international, Kelechi Iheanacho’s lost the goal of the season award to England international, Jamie Vardy which was in acknowledgement of his first-time, left-footed volley during March’s 4-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.
