Rohr: Lokosa to lead Eagles attack against Athletico Madrid

Super Eagles technical adviser Genort Rohr has hinted that the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leading goal scorer Junior Lokosa would be part of his squad that will face Athletico Madrid in the friendly encounter on May 21 at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Rohr has ruled out the possibility of using the Eagles big stars for the game, stressing that the CHAN Eagles or a selected home-based players would play the match.

Rohr in an exclusive interview with SportingLife.ng over the weekend stressed that the Pillars hit-man will be given a chance to impress the Eagles’ technical crew.

The German-born tactician was marveled that the former first Bank of Lagos forward was not part the CHAN Eagles squad in Morocco.

Rohr added that the Eagles’ chief coach Salisu Yusuf is in the best position to monitor local players and introduce them to the
national team.

Rohr said:“Salisu lives in Kano and he is very close to these players. He is the one to recommend to the technical crew the players that are good for the national team. Lokosa will be invited for the Athletico Madrid game. I don’t know why he was not part of the CHAN Eagles squad.

In the same vein, Yusuf revealed reasons why Lokosa was not part of CHAN Eagles squad to Morocco, insisting that Lokosa was not in top form during the preparation for the competition.

Lokosa has been a revelation in the league this season, scoring 16 goals in 18 games played so far this season.

His last goals was a brace against Heartland FC in the matchday 19 encounter over the weekend.
