Nigeria protest Nwakali’s loan move

Nigeria’s football authorities have written a terse letter to a top chieftain of Arsenal FC of London to subtly protest the eminent move of a potential Super Eagles star Kelechi Nwakali to Portuguese side  FC Porto on another loan this season.

Sportinglife.ng gathered from those who should know at the Glasshouse that the terse message sent to David Dein was an advice, where the Nigerian federation described Nwakali as the next big soccer export from Africa to the world in the coming soccer, if he remains with Arsenal not FC Porto in Portugal.

Interestingly, the Arsenal FC chieftain replied the NFF stating that their submissions would be submitted to new manager Unai Emery to consider the possibility of retaining Nwakali, provided the move to FC Porto has not been concluded.

Agency reports trending in the European transfer mills suggested on Thursday morning that there were a
few hitches left to be sorted without stating in clear terms what they problems were.

One of the reports stated that, ‘‘financial terms regarding his salaries are still being worked out and that arsenal are also keen on having an option to extend his contract with the club as he will be left with two years to run on his deal at the end of the season.’’

But it seems Nwakali wants the Porto FC move because he feels he will command more regular shirt appearances playing for the Portuguese side this season than with the Gunners, if he is made to stay
this term.

Porto FC presently has six Nigerians on its payroll comprising Mike Agu, Chidozie Awaziem, Musa Yahaya,
Chidera Eze, Isah Musa and Kingsly Kuku.
