Nasarrawa Amazon on Sunday emerged women’s champions of the 2019 AITEO Cup after defeating Rivers Angels 5-4 on penalties.

The tactically balanced game had ended 0-0 after extra time and needed shootouts to determine the Cup winners.

The Northern Ladies(Nasarawa Amazon) were on a 9 years cup drought and it was a sweet way to end the dominance of the Angels who had won eight time of the previous 9 Cup competitions.

For the two teams, it has been a wonderful ride to the finals as Rivers Angels defeated Adamawa Queens 5-4 on penalties at the round of 16 after a 1-1 draw, won
Sunshine Queens 2-0 at quarterfinals and defeated Delta Queens 1-0 at the semifinals.

Nasarawa Amazons registered 4-2 win over Pelican Stars in the round of 16, defeated 1-0 Edo Queens in the Quarter-Finals and piped Ibom Angels 2-1 at semifinals.

The Amazons will be smiling home with a 10-million cash award for the winners.
