Aubameyang winning Golden Boot surprises Klopp
The emergence of Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as one of the Golden Boot winners has surprised Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp.
The Gabonese international award won the award alongside Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to make it an Africa affair, the first in Premier League history.
Initially, it was Salah who was leading the scorer’s chart with 22 goals prior to the last day of matches.
But both players netted twice in Arsenal’s win over Burnley and Liverpool’s victory over Wolves respectively to draw them level with Salah for the season.
When all the final whistles sounded on Sunday for the last time this season, all three stars were handed their own Golden Boot award.
“Do we have the two top goalscorers, right? Oh, Auba scored twice again? At Burnley?
“Wow, I never would have expected that. How do they do that now, do they make three golden boots? Or everybody gets it for three months? So, all my players, eh?”, he told reporters.
