Barcelona make contact with Pochettino amid Velverde sack

According to AS, Barcelona have made contact with Mauricio Pochettino to succeed Ernesto Valverde who has become unpopular at the nou camp owing to recent results.

Barcelona are going through a patchy run of form as they are without a win in their last two matches which has made the club’s hierarchy begin the search for a new manager.

This past Thursday saw the Catalans bid farewell to the Supercopa de Espana, after Atletico Madrid’s late comeback in the semi-final.

Pochettino is out of work and he is open to new ventures in Spain, a country which has served him well, as he played for and managed Espanyol.

Pochettino is known for his exceptional work with young players. In fact, he is mainly the reason why the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane are now recognised on a global scale since before working with Pochettino, they were practically nobodies.
