Battle of FNB Stadium: Eagles won’t be cheap- Stuart Baxter

Ahead of Nigeria’s must win AFCON clash against South Africa at the FNB Stadium November 17, Coach of Bafana Bafana, Stuart Baxter has told his boys to be prepared to fight to the finish as Super Eagles like wounded lions will not be easy to handle.

The Eagles according to the 2-time South African coach are still singing lamentation songs over their 2-0 defeat at home in June and will no doubt be throwing everything into the match.

He challenged his side to play what he dubbed “good South African football” on one hand and stop the Eagles from playing on the other.

“If we play well and we produce good South African football, a lot of motivation and a lot of focus on a game-plan that will also stop them from playing, then we have a chance,” he enthused.

Fillers from the Rainbow nation indicate that some fans eager to see Bafana Bafana register back to back victory against Eagles had given themselves a pat on the back following news that Odion Ighalo who has discovered his scoring prowess has cubed injury in the Chinese league and will not be part of the FNB battle. The nonetheless agree that even at that it will be a mistake to face the other side when Eagles duo of Ahmed Musa and Alex Iwobi are in possession of the ball and agreed with the national coach that the boys must play as if they did not win the first leg.

Apparently determined to turn the table, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr who is hoping to lead the team all the way to the finals after unimpressive run at the world cup in Russia, did not waste time in drafting Henry Onyekuru as a replacement for injured Odion Ighalo just as Enyimba’s safehand Theophilus Afelokhai was drafted in place of Francis Uzoho.
