CAF makes u-turn, accepts October 13 date for Nigeria/Libya clash
Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) have accepted Nigeria’s request to change the date for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations first leg qualifier against Libya.
Towards this end, the match would now be played on October 13 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium and no
longer October 12, while the reverse fixture billed for Tunisia will hold three days later.
CAF were initially adamant to Nigeria’s request citing several clauses in the competition’s rule book as reason.
They must have soft pedaled after going through Nigeria’s letter which was dispatched to the football
governing’s body secretariat last week in Cairo.
This was disclosed to Sportinglife.ng by the Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye on Friday.
“It is now confirmed. October 13 is the date,” revealed Ibitoye.

The match was initially billed for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna but issues of security and the
size of the pitch being too small, made the NFF move the game to Uyo which has become the adopted home
of the Eagles.
