Crystal Palace battle Cardiff for N5.5billion Victor Moses

The line has been drawn in the battle for the legs of Nigerian international and Chelsea winger Victor Moses between Crystal Palace and Cardiff this month.

Moses is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this month having barely featured under Coach Maurizio Sarri, despite being fit and ready to roll.

Crystal Palace were believed to be favourites over buying him outright for a deal worth around £12m, (About N5.5billion) while Fulham have also been linked.

However, Palace have made signing a striker their priority at the moment and Cardiff are hoping to capitalise by loaning him for the rest of the season.

Manager Neil Warnock knows Moses well having been in charge of Crystal Palace when the former Wigan Athletic ace played for the club between 2007 and 2010.

He is still in the market for a wing-back after losing out to Bournemouth last week over a deal to acquire Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne on loan.

Moses, who was part of the Chelsea side that won the title in 2017, has made just six appearances for the Blues this term the last of which was over two months ago. The 28 year old who was part of the Nigerian squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia made a surprise announcement shortly after the Mundial that he was calling it quits with the national team to focus on club assignments, unfortunately despite his availability Chelsea has left him on the sidelines.

There are however strong indications that he will make a U-turn on his decision to quit the national team soon as the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and the Football Federation are working on meeting him for a heart to heart talk that may signal his return to the team.

The Eagles Who have already qualified for the 2019 AFCON the host of which will be announced tomorrow, will complete the qualifying chain an inconsequential tie against Seychelles in March.

The team is also expected to face Egypt in an international friendly as part of the shape up for the Continental showpiece billed for June.
