Eagles are back, Onyekuru boasts

Galatasaray of Turkey striker Henry Onyekuru believes that Super Eagles are now a force to be reckoned with in the continent following the team’s qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Eagles secured their place in the continental showpiece for the first time since 2013 after securing a 1-1 draw against South Africa in their Group E qualifier at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Buhle Mkhwanazi put the ball into his own net to give Nigeria the lead after nine minutes, but South Africa equalised through their Strasbourg forward Lebo Mothiba in the 26th.

Onyekuru, who came on as a late substitute for the team’s captain Ahmed Musa in the 87th minute, congratulated the team for the hard earned qualification.

The former K.A.S. Eupen of Belgium forward posted on his official twitter handle @henryconyekuru that the Super Eagles will make the country proud at the AFCON tournament.

“We are back! Huge congratulations to the team for the performance last night. We qualified for the #AFCON2019 and cannot wait to make the country proud,” Oyekuru tweeted.
