Eagles World Cup list: I’ll fight for my spot – Ogu

John Ogu shows appreciation for fans support

Hapoel Be’er Sheva dynamic midfielder, John Ogu has declared his readiness to fight for a spot in the final 23-man squad of the Super Eagles after he was listed in the 30-man provisional list yesterday by manager Gernot Rohr.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a terrific season with his Israeli club helping them to a record third consecutive league title, scoring three times from his holding role in midfield.

Ogu will be aiming to play in the World Cup for the first time and he is not relenting in his bid to make the final 23-man squad which will be announced after the Eagles friendly against England on June 2.

Ogu tweeted: “I feel Blessed and honoured to be in the 30-sMan provisional list to the World Cup.

“I will never take this opportunity and privilege for granted. I’m never going to the camp for fun, thinking I’m already at d World Cup but I am going to Work hard. I have known hard work all my life.”

The Super Eagles players invited are expected to report at the Le Meridien Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo on Monday, 21st May. Nigeria will play Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D.
