As he gets set for his first World Cup appearance in Russia, Benfica new signing and Super Eagles
defender Tyronne Ebuehi has promised not to betray Nigeria in the future.

The player, who is born to a Nigeria father and Dutch mother, can still play for his adopted country
Holland since he is yet to play any competitive match for the Eagles apart from friendly matches.

A team official informed Sportinglife.ng that the player is not even considering the option of playing
for Holland if he does not play during the tournament.

“Tyrone remains very appreciative of what the coach has done for him. He was not the only Nigerian
player in the diaspora that was called and selected. So he owes a lot to Nigeria. He is for Nigeria
forever,”” said the official.

On whether Ebuehi has impressed in camp, the official said he has done well, but whether he will be
selected for games will be at the discretion of the head coach.

In November 2016, Ebuehi was called up for the first time to the Nigeria national team for a 2018 FIFA
World Cup qualifier against Algeria.

However, he declined the call-up stating that he needed some time to settle into his former team ADO
Den Haag.

He was later called up for friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso in March 2017 and joined up with
the squad. He made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3–0 friendly win over Togo on 1 June 2017.
