Eguavoen demands more from Ndidi during national assignments

New Super Eagles caretaker coach, Austin Eguavoen, has demanded more commitment from Leicester City star, Wilfred Ndidi while on national assignments.

The NFF technical director said he believes Ndidi can do far more than he is doing but “he’s holding back”.

“When I see Wilfred Ndidi in midfield, he’s not 100% like (Sunday) Oliseh, but I think he can be one of the best defensive midfielders in the world,” Eguavoen said in a special YouTube presentation detailing the philosophy of Nigeria football.

“He’s holding back, as far as I am concerned, I have spoken to him twice, but I don’t know why.

“He can do better than what he’s doing because he has a lot of potentials.”

Ndidi, 25, has been capped by Nigeria at U17, U20 and full international levels.

He played at the 2018 World Cup as well as at the 2019 AFCON, where Nigeria placed third.

He has established himself in the Premier League five years after his big-money transfer from Belgian club Genk.
