Chelsea want £38million Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves

Chelsea are interested in signing Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves during the January transfer window.

Chelsea’s title hopes have been dashed after dropping points to Wolves, Everton and West Ham in their last four Premier League games.

As a result, Thomas Tuchel would like to bolster his midfield options by adding Neves to his ranks.

Chelsea interest was triggered by  Neves performance after  his transfer from Porto in 2017.

However, Neves still has two and a half years left on his contract with Molineux. As a result, Wolves will reportedly demand £38million for the midfielder in the January window.

Nevertheless, Tuchel could be open to spending the money on Neves  given that N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have all missed games this season due to injury.

Tuchel has also lost faith in Saul Niguez after he struggled to make a big impact since being loaned out to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid at the end of the summer transfer window.

Therefore Chelsea can move to Neves who has played 194 times in the Premier League for Wolves and has scored 21 goals in all competitions.

Getting a hold of Neves can be difficult, however, as Wolves boss Bruno Lage previously called him a “top player.”

“Midfielders are very important and Jorginho is one of the best in that position at the moment,” Lage said before the game against Chelsea on Sunday.
