Ekong doubtful after undergoing medical treatment
Super Eagles’ dependable defender and Second Assistant Captain, William Troost-Ekong is injured.
He got injured in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations’ first group match against Burundi which the Super Eagles won 1-0 to top Group B.
5Eagles handler Gernot Rohr confirmed this to SportingLife.ng but added that the team doctors are battling hard for him to be available against Guinea on Wednesday.
“Williams Ekong is injured. He had a knock in the match against Burundi on Saturday.
“He did not participate in the team’s training today (Monday). He had special medical treatment and I am not sure if he can play on Wednesday.
“But we still have tomorrow training sessions to decide. We hope other ones who are recuperating will be ready for the match”, Rohr disclosed to SportingLife.ng.

Ekong has been a pillar in Eagles defence for sometime now and.he would be sorely missed if he fails to he fit and not available for the crucial match against one of the Group B favourites to qualify to the next round of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations holding in Egypt.
