Elche 2 – 0 Malaga: Uzoho keeps clean sheet

Super Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho was in dazzling form as his club, Elche shocked Spanish second divison leaders, Malaga 2-0 at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero on Friday night.

Uzoho, fresh from international duties where he was in goal for Nigeria in the 4-0 and 3-2 victories the Eagles secured against Libya in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers was impressive, making two crucial saves that would have turned the game against his team.

Colombian defender, Neider Lozano put Elche ahead in the 36th minute to help the home team end the first half leading 1-0. Spanish winger sealed victory for the host in the 63rd minute after he scored the second goal.

This is Uzoho’s third game in all competitions for the Los Ilicitanos since making his debut on September 13 in Elche’s 2-1 win over Granada in a Copa Dey Rey encounter at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero after joining on loan from Deportivo de La Coruña.
