Okon stated this in a telephone chat with Sportinglife.ng, said he expected the ladies to pocket the 9 points in the group but warned that under rating the opponents may hinder their aspiration as female football in Africa is fast developing.

He said Nigeria has the highest female professionals playing outside Africa and most of the Nigerian players are more exposed in terms of experience and tactics .

” First, the cup is mot new to Nigeria having won it 8 times including myself (Okon). Also they should know that this particular edition will be used as African qualifier to the World Cup next year. I sincerely believe that our girls will not joke with this competition as this may be the last appearance for some of them in the colours of the national team”. Said Okon

The reigning CAF African Women Nations Cup champions, will slug it out in group B alongside Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Zambia and Kenya.

The Super Falcons will play their group B opener November, 18th in Cape Coast Stadium against South Africa before taking on Zambia November 21st, and the last group game against Kenya November 24th.
