FIFA to introduce New System for Transfers, Loans

FIFA has agreed to limit the number of players a club can lend each season to between six and eight, but no exact figure has been decided.

The football governing body is keen to ensure young players are loaned out for their development, rather than the commercial gain of their parent club.

Chelsea could be affected by the changes as they have 40 players out on loan, including Kurt Zouma at Everton, Tammy Abraham at Aston Villa, and Trevoh Chalobah at Ipswich. Any significant reduction of the ‘loan limit’ imposed by FIFA may well mean Chelsea will have to alter their loans.

The reform will also prohibit bridge transfers and sub-loans.
