Friendship at WTT finals: Stars kick back together at Nagoya castle

Stage is set for the WTT Finals Women Nagoya, with all the stars assembled for the maiden WTT event in Japan. The Top 16 Women’s Singles players are ready to go head-to-head at the Nagoya Kinjo-Futo Arena over the coming days to crown the WTT Series 2023 season ending champion.

Before the action out on the table, the athletes today got settled in to their surroundings, embarking on an excursion together to take in the local sights that the city has to offer; namely Nagoya Castle.

A historic marvel nestled in the heart of Nagoya, the castle dates back to the early 17th century. With its iconic golden shachihoko, a creature of Japanese folklore, adorning the castle’s top, it stands as a symbol of resilience and cultural heritage, offering a picturesque backdrop for the athletes’ pre-match excursion.

A new tradition for the season’s final showdown, the players embraced the chance to explore the event destination away from the stadium as well as posing for a photoshoot.

Rivals in the arena, but off the court top seed and defending champion Sun Yingsha and one of her closest friends on the series, Adriana Diaz, kicked back and enjoyed some time together away from the table.

The chance to showoff the sights to their Top 16 compatriots was also a highlight for Japanese stars Hina Hayata and Mima Ito.
