Go after Ronaldo, ex-player Sharpe urges Man Utd officials

Former Manchester United star, Lee Sharpe, believes the club should look at signing ex-player Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

There are rumours in Italy suggesting that Ronaldo would like a transfer away from the Old Lady before the transfer window closes.

United may be one of the few clubs that could offer Ronaldo the stage and salary he craves, even at this late stage of his career.

Speaking to the Mirror, Sharpe said: “I think signing Ronaldo will be the icing on the cake. I think if he was to come back as the No.9, he would be phenomenal.”

“I wouldn’t have thought he’d come back but then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. I think he’s got such a connection with the club.”

“He would be phenomenal, not just on the pitch but in the dressing room, for the players and the young players around him,” he added.

“I think he would give people that edge of what it takes to win, what it takes to be a great player.”
