I have not been paid upfront–Rohr

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has denied that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has paid his salary up to December. Rohr is on a salary of $50,000.

The Eagles coach was asked on Monday Night of Football by the panel of analysts led by presenter Charles Anazodo.

‘The money issues are not the most important. I read the report that l have been paid till December but it is not true,” he said. There was however a time the NFF paid the German coach for three months which they confirmed  after its executive meeting on April 4, 2018.

“Committee heaped encomiums on premium partner AITEO, for paying part of its rights fee as Official Optimum Partner of the NFF for the year 2018, which has enabled the Federation to pay all the coaches in its employ, with coaches of the Senior Men’s National Team, Super Eagles, now fully paid till the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup,” read part of the communique.

He however did not mention if he was being owed, but confirmed he has signed a new two-year contract which is a reward for the results that he has accomplished with the team so far.

“I believe in continuity and solidarity and l was happy that this board returned to office for another term. It makes my job easy and we would continue to put heads together to make sure that we succeed with the team,” he said.

On his target for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, Rohr stated that he would love to win the trophy.

“I never said that we are going to win the Cup but after a four- year absence from the tournament, certainly it  would be the desire or the wish of any coach to win the title,” he said.
