Ikeme: I am Happy To Be Alive After Battle With Cancer

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has revealed how happy he is that he won the battle against cancer to stay alive.

Ikeme who spoke on Wolves TV said he was in total shock when when he was diagnosed with acute Leukaemia in July 2017.

“I kept asking myself why me, I am not a bad person,”

“I was worried my daughter will be growing up without me.

“The first month (of treatment) was okay, but by the second month it took a toll on my body. It was going to be difficult.

“It was a lot of pain, I just had to keep riding it. I was determined.

“I am happy to be alive, just happy I could go home. I’m just happy to breathe fresh air, just a relief to me.

“I am truly grateful for every day.”

“She’s a blessing, I truly believe that. It did help at the time.

“Now I’m looking forward to my kids’ future,” Ikeme said in a documentary aired on Wolves TV.
