Leicester preparing £30m bid for Celtic striker

Leicester City are preparing a £30million bid for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, according to reports.

The Daily Record claims Brendan Rodgers wants to raid his old club to sign the 21-year-old, who he brought to Glasgow in August 2017.

It’s claimed the Scottish champions have warned the Foxes that their star man is not for sale.

But Rodgers, 46, is said to be willing to put the record-breaking offer on hold until the end of the season.

A Leicester swoop for Edouard would enrage the Parkhead faithful, with supporters still furious at the manner of their old boss’ exit from the club last February.

The Foxes’ interest in the France U-21 star comes five months after they failed in a transfer deadline day move for his Hoops teammate Callum McGregor.

Reports claimed Rodgers was willing to pay up to £20m for the Scotland international but was shut down by Parkhead chief Dermot Desmond.

The Celtic academy graduate went on to sign a new five-year deal in November.

Rodgers raved about Edouard’s ability after his permanent signing in a £10m deal in 2018.

At the time, he said: “Odsonne’s a game-changer. No question. He’s a wonderful player.

“He’s already shown that — speed, intelligence, power at all the levels and the finishing.

“He can occupy defences, and he’s got a lot of tools in his locker with a lot more development to come.

“You can’t deny Edouard’s ability. He’s been questioned since he came here, but I’ve always said what a huge talent he is.
