Lisbon 0-1 Arsenal: Iwobi in action for four mins

Nigerian international, Alex Iwobi was in action for just four minutes as Arsenal secured a 1-0 away win against Portuguese Primera Liga side, Sporting Lisbon in Thursday’s night’s Europa League clash at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Danny Welbeck’s 77th-minute goal moved Arsenal onto nine points in Group E, and means that the Gunners have now won their last 11 matches in all competitions and it is also the first time that the English giants have beaten a Portuguese side away from home.

Iwobi, who was inspirational for the Super Eagles in the last AFCON qualifiers against Libya in Uyo and Sfax came on in the 86th minute for Gabonese striker,Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Though Iwobi is yet to open his goals account in the Europa League after making three appearances but his performance in the 4-2 in over Vorskla Poltava earned him massive praise on Twitter also.

Just last weekend, he was named Man of the Match in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Leicester City
and despite not being on the score-sheet Iwobi’s performance against the Foxes earned him the award.

The attacking midfielder was not replaced during the encounter as he was left to see out the entire duration of the game.
