Liverpool, Arsenal battle Barca for highly-rated Salzburg striker

Liverpool and Arsenal have joined Barcelona in the pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi.

The 17-year-old is currently on a season-long loan deal at Austrian side FC Liefering but has impressed scouts during this time. Adeyemi currently has 11 goals and eight assists in just 17 appearances in all competitions this season.

The youngster’s progress has been followed by Barcelona, but according to Spanish publication Sport, Liverpool and Arsenal are also interested in signing the attacker.

Salzburg signed the striker, who is part of the Under-17s Germany setup, for around €3.5million (£2.98m) last summer and could look for as much as €8m (£6.8m) from interested teams.

According to reports Adeyemi still trains with RB Salzburg but then plays for Liefering, who are a feeder club for the Austrian outfit.

Adeyemi had also gained expense this season playing for RB Salzburg in the UEFA Youth League.
Reports in Spain suggest Barcelona academy director Patrick Kluivert is a big fan of the youngster, but Liverpool and Arsenal could tempt the play to choose the Premier League over La Lga with the promise of first-team football.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants would look to sign Adeyemi and play him in their Barcelona B team before looking to move him up.

And while Arsenal might be linked with Adeyemi, they are also in an uncertain position following the sacking of Unai Emery.
