Lobi’s Champions league campaign dicey after losing to Wydad

Lobi Stars suffered their second defeat in the CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday after losing by a lone goal to Wydad Casablanca from Morocco at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.

Wydad’s Mohammed Nahiri gave the visitors the lead in the 19th minute from the penalty spot after Benin Republic left-back Sanni Ben-Yere was fouled inside the box.

The visitors would have added the second in the 63rd minute from the penalty spot again but they were denied by Lobi goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode who went the right way.

Kayode was again called to duty in the dying minutes when he pulled off a massive save to deny the Moroccans.

Lobi Stars chased for an equalizer which failed to come despite throwing in strikers Austin Ogunye and Nojeem Okokun.

Their biggest chance came in the 39th minute through Michael Stephen whose header from a cross was saved by the Wydad goalkeeper.
