Man U get boost in pursuit of Palmeiras wonder kid Endrick

Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of 15-year-old Brazilian sensation Endrick.

The wonderkid, who has been making headlines in his homeland, training and playing with professionals far older and more experienced at Palmeiras.

United are understood to hold an interest in the forward, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona, and his father recently revealed a nugget of information that might offer encouragement to fans.

Douglas Sousa told Nossopalestra: ‘He even says: “Dad, I want to be like Cristiano”. He read some articles and knows that Cristiano doesn’t have a tattoo, because he donates blood.

‘In the same way that Cristiano is driven by challenges, so is Endrick.

‘He likes to train, to improve himself every day, so he has a main mirror in this athlete.

‘Once they asked about three players to see who his favourite is Cristiano, Neymar and Messi, he chose Cristiano – said Douglas.’

Despite the attention from United, it seems likely he will remain with Palmeiras for the time being.

His father said that playing in Europe remains some way down the priority list. Sousa ranked his son’s goals as, playing as a professional, staying at a high level in Brazil, winning the Copa Libertadores, winning the World Cup, and then moving to Europe.

There were initial fears from the youngster that training with men so much more physically developed than him could be an issue.

But his father went on: ‘I sent him a message asking how the training at the professional had been.

‘He replied: “Fine” (laughs). Endrick is a very easygoing guy. I asked one last question about how difficult the training had been.
