NFF contacted me before Yobo’s appointment–Rohr

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed that he was informed that Joseph Yobo would join the coaching set-up of the senior national team by the Nigeria Football Federation before making the announcement.

Yobo on Wednesday replaced Imama Amapakabo as Super Eagles assistant coach, a development Rohr, however, regretted owing to the good working relationship he enjoyed with Amapakabo, but agreed the NFF had the right to hire anybody

“@thenff has the right to pick one assistant coach for my staff, so they are the ones to communicate the reasons for the appointment, not myself. I was informed by @PinnickAmaju, in a telephone call, before it was made public,” he told London based journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

“I don’t know why @IAmapakabo has been removed. I worked very well with him. He did a very good job with me. I regret his departure. But since the @thenff have the right to take this decision, there is nothing that I can do about it.”

While welcoming Yobo, Rohr said he was aware that the former Super Eagles captain had no coaching qualification but would speak to him on the issue since it was his responsibility to develop Nigeria coaches

·”I have the responsibility to develop coaches from @Nigeria, as agreed with @thenff. I am more than happy to do that. @jyobo234 is welcome to the team, of course. I have heard that he has no coaching diplomas, so I will talk to him, about this…” …If what I have heard is correct, I will tell . @jyobo234 that he needs to do the training required, to grow as a coach,” Rohr said.
