NPFL resumption: Rivers Utd threatens to sanction latecomers

General Manager of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Rivers United, Okey Kpalukwu has said that sanctions will be meted out to any player of the club who fails to report to camp for the new season before the August 6 deadline.

In a statement released by the Media Officer of the club, Sammy Wejinya, Rivers United will hold their first training session on August 6, three days after the resumption of camp.
Hoping that the club will win a silverware next season, the GM said: “We were just 90 minutes away from picking a continental ticket last season and we are certain the upcoming season will be a lot more positive for us,” he explained.
“We’re poised to do better this term and make Rivers people proud. We’ve set up camp and every necessary step is being taken to ensure we get back to the top.” Chief Kpalukwu explained.
Rivers United FC finished in fifth place in Group A of the abridged 2019 NPFL season and reached the semi-final of the Aiteo Cup.
