Oboabona relishes first goal for Dinamo Batumi

Nigeria international Godfrey Oboabona is in cloud nine after scoring his first goal of the season for Dinamo Batumi last weekend, Sportinglife.ng reports.

The Super Eagles defender helped the Georgian Clubside ended a 3-game winless run with a 3-1 away victory over Telaviv FC in a premier league tie.

With a goalless first half, Michelin Basheleishvili gave the host the lead four-minute after the restart but Giorgi Nikabadze leveled up nine minutes later with Oboabona adding to the tally in the 80th minutes. Jaba Jiguari then sealed a comeback victory for the visitors six minute from time.

Speaking to Georgiainfo.de after the energy sapping encounter, the former captain of Sunshine Stars attributed the victory to hard work and dedication.

“Let me give all glory to God Almighty for the victory and appreciate the efforts of our coaching crew and teammates. I also say a big thank you to our fans worldwide. I am happy that I am able to contribute my quota to ensure this victory. The win is important for our confidence and we hope to build on it. We are on top of the table right now but we are not going to be carried away with that, ” the 2013 Afcon winning defender said.

Dinamo Batumi is currently leading the league table with 23 points and the team will square up against Saburtalo FC in its next match on the 17th of October, 2020.
