Osimhen, Oshoala listed for Globe Soccer awards

Nigerian pair Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have been listed for different category, in the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards.

Osimhen, who claimed the Emerging Player of the Year prize category in the 2022 edition, has now been nominated for Best Men’s Player of the Year 2023.

At the last count, the 24-year-old Osimhen played an important role in Napoli’s Serie A title success last campaign.

Other stars that will battle Osimhen includes Nicolò Barella, Jude Bellingham, Karim Benzema, Yassine Bounou, Antoine Griezmann, Ilkay Gundogan, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Robert Lewandowski for the prestigious award.

The other nominees are, Lautaro Martínez, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Kim Min-Jae, Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Vinícius Jr.

On the other part, Oshoala was nominated for the Women’s Best Player award for the first time.

The Super Falcons star forward was part of the Barcelona Femeni side that claimed the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season.

The winner will be decided via an online voting.

Winners in various categories will be announced at a Gala event on January 19, 2024.
