Playing in the second league not in my plans –Ighalo

Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has told BBC Sport that playing in the second division in China is not part of his plans ahead of the 2019 season which would commence next year.

Ighalo’s comments therefore suggest that he that he may have played his last game for Changchun Yatai who were relegated to the second tier of the league last season.

“Playing in the second division is not in my plans, so I need to weigh my options well,” he told BBC Sport.

The Super Eagles striker who is leading the Africa Nations Cup scorers chart before the final round of matches scheduled for March has revealed that he is not in a hurry to take any hasty decision surrounding his future which he claimed he has left in the hands of his agent.

“I don’t know yet about my future. I cannot make a hasty decision so I’ll use the next few weeks to decide.

“I have been getting direct calls from different agents and clubs, but now enjoying my Christmas break with the family and it is the job of my agent to speak to them.”

“There’s the African Cup of Nations next year to think about and I need to keep playing at a highly competitive level.

Ighalo is a wanted man in China having netted 36 goals in 55 appearances for Changchun Yatai since his €23.3m move to the club from Watford in 2017.

The prolific striker has featured for Lyn Oslo, Udinese, Cesena, Granada and Watford in his professional career abroad.
