Pointless Qatar, Senegal in redemption tie in Khalifa Stadium

Host Qatar and Senegal get the second round of group-stage fixtures underway when they go head to head at the Al Thumama Stadium on Friday.

The Maroon became the first host nation to lose their opening World Cup game as Enner Valencia struck twice to hand Ecuador a 2-0 victory when the sides squared off in Group A on Sunday.

Senegal on their part were denied a dream start to the tournament as they suffered a 2-0 loss against Netherlands on Monday courtesy of late goals from Cody Gakpo and Davy Klaassen.

Both sides will be approaching the second match with every seriousness knowing that there is no point in the kitty
