Purity waves off pressure on wrestlers to win medals at African Games

Nigerian wrestling coach, Akuh Purity, has spoken on the pressure tasking his wrestlers to return with medals from the 2024 African Games.

Purity said he has not sensed any form of pressure among his athletes and they were all ready to go.

The coach said the team also took on some technical and mental training to further strengthen them in their course.

He then added that the team has a strong bond and the Wrestlers’ well-being is a priority.

“Yeah, I don’t think there is any pressure on them because we work more on the technical and we work more on the technical and mental training too,” the coach told BRL.

“We don’t really discuss anything about pressure so we just give them a free hand. You know, so and we’re very close to them. If anyone is being pressured, I think with closeness, they should be able to voice out and tell us, I’m being pressured and all that.”

“But with what I am seeing as the head coach, there is no pressure. Everybody’s in good condition; in good shape.

“The environment is very fantastic where we camp, it’s very fantastic and our diet is more important so we are feeding well, so the environment is good, so we have no pressure, so we are good to go honestly.”
