Remo Stars Take Revenge Against Sporting Lagos In Pre-season tie

Remo Stars have avenged their recent loss to Sporting Lagos in their Southwestern derby game the Value Jet Cup championship in Ikenne as the Sky Blue Stars subdued Naija Super 8 winners with a 2-0 win.

Remo had to settle for a 1-all draw against Kwara United in the first game as Sporting Lagos ran away with the only three points of the day in their 2-3 win over Heartland Football Club.

However, the reverse was the case on MatchDay 2 as Remo took matters personally with Dayo Ojo opening the scoring with a sublime finish from a fine cross by Seun Ogunribide before Sporting’s Henri Ndedi handed Remo the second goal via an own goal in the 80th minute.

Sporting Lagos lost two men to dismissals in the second half, as Emeka Nwokeji for unsportsmanlike conduct and Vincent Akpikpi for dissent were shown the Red Card in the 55th and 90+ minutes respectively.

The result sees Remo top Group A with three points and a +2 goal difference tally ahead of Sporting Lagos in third with the same number of points (3) but a lesser goal difference tally (-1) after conceding four goals and scoring thrice in two games.

Heartland lost for the second time in a row to Sporting Lagos and Kwara United, which places the Owerri-based club in the rock bottom of the group with Kwara United taking the second spot with three points with a +1 goal difference tally and three points from two games.
