Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr on Monday extended a last minute invitation to Enyimba goalkeeper as a replacement for first choice keeper, Francis Uzoho who has been ruled out for four weeks due to injury.
This was disclosed by the Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye who said the keeper would join the team when camp opens on November 12 in Asaba ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa five days later. “This is the only information for now concerning the match,” said Ibitoye.
Afelokhai who has been in superb form for the Aba Elephants this season will battle fellow teammate Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi for the number one spot.
Uzoho has been the Eagles first choice since making his debut last year November against Argentina in a friendly.
He got injured on Sunday for Elche against Cadiz in a Spanish Segunda clash.
