Samson Siasia:  I will miss Isaac Promise

 

Former Super Eagles Coach Samson Siasia who first made late Promise Isaac the Captain of the Flying Eagles team that won the Africa Youth Championship in Cotonou, the Benin Republic in 2004 has told Sportinglife.ng sadly that he would miss the late player.

Promise Isaac, who captained Nigeria to win the silver medal of the 2005 U20 World Youth Championship in the Netherlands and also the silver medal of the 2008 Olympic silver in Beijing, China and also scored 79 goals in 11 professional seasons in Turkey, died after collapsing at his apartment gym in Austin, Texas, authorities said Thursday at the age of 31.
Siasia said he received the news of the death of Isaac who played for Austin Bold of the USL in America with great shock and disbelieve.
“I will surely miss Promise Isaac because I made him the Captain of my teams the U20 national team of 2004 and the Olympics team of 2008 then. He was very close to me during those periods and was a fantastic Captain and a very cool and good guy. He doesn’t like making trouble with anyone but very passionate and devoted when we talk of the game of football.

“It was however surprising that we couldn’t see or talk all these while he was living in the same Atlanta in the United States of America that I also live. He did his best leading these Nigerian national teams to win great laurels for the country. So Nigeria will miss him. I will personally miss him. I can on pray that God gives his family the fortitude to bear the loss”, Siasia prayed.
