Samuel Kalu misses out on French Cup final

Samuel Kalu

Super Eagles winger, Samuel Kalu was unable to save Bordeaux as they missed out on a place in the French Cup final courtesy a 3-2 defeat against Strasbourg.

The 21-year-old spotting the number 10 jersey was involved for 90 minutes inside the Stade de la Meinau but his deft touches could not power his side to the much needed win.

Interestingly, it was the former Ligue 1 champions Bordeaux that went in front when Younousse Sankhare beat his marker to score past Bingourou Kamara in goal for the home side.

It was a completely different game in the second half as four more goals were score. Ludovic Ajorque levelled scores for Strasbourg and they extended their lead with a brace from Lebo Mothiba to make it 3-1.

Bordeaux ensured it was a tension soaked finish to the match after Jimmy Briand made it 3-2 with eight minutes left on the clock but Kalu and teammates were unable to get the equaliser as Strasbourg held on for the win and move into final of the French Cup where they will play Guingamp in Lille on March 30.
