French youngster Kylian Mbappe, who was voted the best young player at the FIFA World Cup in Russia has topped the 2018 World’s most Valuable U-21 players list at an estimated worth of €192.3m.
Interestingly, the list which was compiled by Soccerex has no Nigerian or African making the top 20 as none was
valued above €30m.
The list takes into account a player’s age, position, current club, contract length, market value perception, international caps, minutes played, goals, injuries and technical quality.
Marcos Rashford [€89.2m England | Man United], Gabriel Jesus [€88.0m Brazil & Man City], Ousmane
Dembele [€84.3m France & Barcelona] and Malcom [€64.6m Brazil & Bordeaux] all made the top five.
Meanwhile, of the 20 players listed by the research, only five represented their countries at the World
Cup in Russia.
Nigeria presented three players under 21– Wilfred Ndidi, Chidozie Awaziem and Francis Uzoho – at the
FIFA World cup in Russia with Ndidi and Uzoho featuring in all the three group matches before the
Eagles were eliminated.
