Here’s how Europe’s top leagues will end following Ligue 1’s example

France’s Ligue 1 has already decided their 2019/20 champion, European qualifiers and promoted and relegated teams after it was decided that the season should be ended.

They did so using a formula that took points per game.

While it’s unlikely that this formula will be repeated for all of Europe’s top divisions, we have looked at what that would look like if they were to follow the same path.

Paris Saint-Germain are champions again, while Marseille and Rennes will join them in the Champions League.

Lille, Reims and Nice are in the Europa League, while Amiens and Toulouse are relegated with Loirent and Lens coming up in their place.

If Spain followed suit then Barcelona would be champions, with Real Madrid, Sevilla and Real Sociedad qualifying for the Champions League.

Getafe and Atletico Madrid would play in the 2020/21 Europa League.

Leganes, Real Mallorca and Espanyol would drop into the second division, with Cadiz and Real Zaragoza coming up, while Almeria would be the most likely to come up as the third team.

Lazio’s surprising title push would be ended as Juventus would take the Scudetto, while Inter and Atalanta would both return to next season’s Champions League.

The Europa League places would go to Roma and a resurgent Napoli.

Lecce, SPAL and Brescia would fall into Serie B, harshly for the Pugliese who have as many points as Genoa in 17th, with Benevento, Crotone and Frosinone to come up in their place.

Bayern Munich would be champions again ahead of Champions League qualifiers Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke would play in the Europa League.

Werder Bremen and Paderborn are placed to drop down a division, with Bielefeld and Stuttgart coming up.

Runaway leaders Liverpool would finally be crowned champions after a 30-year wait, with Manchester City, Leicester and Chelsea joining them in the Champions League.

Manchester United and Wolves would make it into Europe as well.

Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich City would face relegation, while Leeds, West Brom and Fulham would come up in their place.
