Lionel Messi sets one stunning UCL record after Barca draw
Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has set a new record in the UEFA Champions League after the La Liga champions played out barren draw at Camp Nou with Czech side Slavia Prague.
The Spanish side, Barcelona drew with Slavia Prague despite a woeful 3-1 loss against Levante in La Liga on Saturday.
FIFA World Player of the year, Messi failed to register a single goal or assist in the Champions League for the very first time since 2012 after his team struggled with the Czech side at Camp Nou on Tuesday night.
He also left the stadium after the game without shaking any of the opposition’s hand which resulted to many reactions within and outside the team.
Messi came close to finding the net on the night, rattling the crossbar after a fine solo run from his own half in the 35th minute, as well as being denied by Slavia keeper Ondrej Kolar on multiple occasions.

He also would have had an assist had it not been for VAR, which adjudged him to have wandered just offside in the build-up to Arturo Vidal’s disallowed opener early into the second period.
But his blank brought to an end a seven-year record at the Camp Nou, and also meant Barcelona failed to score at home for the first time in 46 games in all competitions.
