Manchester United release 14 players
Manchester United confirm the release of 14 players, including Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia. The mix of veterans and academy products are now free to sign with new clubs.
However, Juan Mata, whose contract is set to expire this summer, has been offered a new contract to stay on at the club.
The Spaniard’s form and first-team status have wavered this season, but he has still delivered on occasion for the Red Devils.
If Mata does stay, Solskjaer likely values his leadership as he moves toward a younger team.

Daniel James’ arrival is the first of many expected deals for Man United this window, and if it’s any indication of what’s to come, expect Solskjaer to build a young squad that will ideally last for years.
